"So, where do you go to school?"
“How did you learn all of this?”
“What do those pins on your vest mean?”
“How’s your latest certification going?”

From customers to distributors, regular guests to people I meet in the grocery store struggling to pick a bottle with nary an employee in sight to help, I get asked a lot of questions about what wine education is. One of the more recent ones I've been noticing goes something like, "How do I do what you've done?" or "Where do I start?"

To that, I have a few questions of my own, such as: What's your end goal? How much time do you want to invest each week? Is cost a barrier, and if so, what's your budget look like? Do you need a certification or are you seeking knowledge? I want to help and provide useful information, but it's not a five minute conversation in a busy restaurant when I have fifteen tables eagerly waiting for my attention. It's the kind of topic I'd love to sit down over coffee and discuss ad nauseam. Being able to give back to the growing wine community is one of the things I want to do. While I'd love to be somebody's mentor, guiding them in their educational path, I need a place to start. Already having this platform from which I can blog about my wine education, travel and career experience, I figured creating a page just about the various resources I've used and can recommend would be a great starting line.
